The Jimmy Dean Show
EntertainmentBefore there was “Hee Haw,” the “Muppet Show” or “Get Smart,” there was “The Jimmy Dean Show,” which featured the early beginnings of all three iconic TV series. “The Jimmy Dean Show” was an hour-long variety show hosted by country singer Jimmy Dean that aired on ABC from September 1963 until April 1966. This popular series has been lovingly restored via a three-year process that included footage stabilization and audio enhancements. The popular hour-long weekly series introduced audiences to one of the first Jim Henson Muppets, Rowlf the Dog, featured a rising young comedian named Don Adams, who’d later star in his own show as secret agent Maxwell Smart, and hosted Roy Clark, Buck Owens and employed staff writers Frank Peppiatt and John Aylesworth, who would go on to create “Hee Haw.” The series featured other country performers such as Charlie Rich and Roger Miller, but also included popular musical artists such as Eddy Arnold, Connie Smith, Jim Reeves, Red Buttons, Johnny Cash, The Four Seasons, Patty Duke, and more!
